St. Maarten Golf Courses Reviews

St. Maarten is a small Caribbean island that has gained its fame as an important tourist destination in the recent years. The island is divided into two parts, the Dutch side and the French side since it is governed by those two nations. Since years now, St. Maarten is one of the most visited islands in the Caribbean because of its magnificent beaches. There are more than 30 different beaches on the island to choose from, each one with beautiful turquoise waters and sandy shores.

What makes St. Maarten a favorite location for families as well as couples, is that there are plenty of things to do here on the island. Apart from enjoying the beaches here, there are plenty of water sport activities, sight seeing attractions, sport activities, shopping venues and a good night life. Families that travel with kids generally look for places where there are plenty of things to do to keep them occupied, and St. Maarten is one such island that has plenty of things to offer for people of all age groups.

Most St. Maarten all inclusive packages would have at least a few activities included in their package. Avid golfers have a benefit when they choose St. Maarten as a vacation spot; they can golf even while they are on vacation. St. Maarten is not a large island, so the only drawback is that there is just one 18hole golf course on the island.

The Mullet Bay Golf course is the only 18-hole golf course located on the island which is open to the visitors and the locals. The golf course was earlier part of the Mullet Bay resort, which is now closed down. The course is designed by Joseph Lee and is known to be a fairly challenging course.

The golf course is located in an ideal location, it provides good views of the bay and the course is designed around several lagoons. The atmosphere is idyllic and quite relaxing; visitors can enjoy the game and the beautiful views as well.

The drawback with the Mullet Bay golf course is that since it is the only golf course on the island, it tends to get quite crowded on the weekends. The locals flock to the course on the weekends so it might get a little difficult to play. However, weekends are fairly peaceful to play here.

Since the resort has closed down, the golf course is now maintained by the St. Maarten golf association. The best thing about playing golf here is the unique mix of the beautiful setting and the challenging course which keeps golfers coming back to try their hand at the game again.

Although, the golf course is being reported to have a few maintenance issues every now and then; it still remains the favorite pastime for most locals on the island as well as tourists. The best thing about playing golf while on a vacation is that there is no pressure to perform well, rather the only thing to do is to enjoy the game and the views while you golf.
